Default storing carb

Guys--
Is there anyway to store a carb for an extended period of times so as not to have to replace the carb kit? This is a carb that was removed from my car in may.I have been told that the kits last about a year after carb removal and then the rubber parts of the kit dry up and
need replacement.
thanx wade

I take them apart, put the small part (screws, clips, needle...) in a ziplock bag, pull the gaskets and accellerator pump and smear them with Chapstick, shoot some carb cleaner through the passages, let it dry out, put the carb body parts in a plastic bag and then put everything in a sealed box.

That's the best way to do it, IMOP.

I've brought carbs back to life that were pretty messed up from improper storage.... it's a major amount of work... especially sanding the main body on 1/2" glass.

The new non-stick gaskets may help, but I would still take it apart. Not worth the risk or aggravation.

Sour gas eats the metal like cancer. Gets the passages as well.... throws the body out of calibration & renders it useless in some cases.

If it's a Holley.... their favorite quote thses days is "Obsolete, No Replacement".
