Default any thoughts on this?

since i am replacing the whole rear frame with this subframed section. I am going to just sawsall the whole section out. I am giving the whole unit to a buddy for for a t bucket project.

i was just going to weld some blackpipe across the remaining frame rails to keep them getting to out of wack. figure a couple straight across and a couple diagonaly. then i'll cut out the old and tack in the new rear subframe. any thoughts?

How are you planning on attaching the new subframe? Do you plan to weld to the existing frame rails and then install gussets? Who fabbed the subframe? Will it weld directly to the existing frame rails? May be doing a project like this in the near future so any info is appreciated.

So you apparently wanted to move closer to C1 technology?

I still like my Corvettes to be all around sports cars not dragsters, but to each his own!!

the subframe and 4 link suspension is from S&W racing. it is an unwelded kit that me and my friend tacked together. I have a ford 9 inch rear that i will be narrowing next. I am going to remove the whole rear of the frame by cuting it out betwen the rear frame rails by the last crossmember. then the other subframe will be fit between the rails. I am going tokeep the wheelbase the same as a stocker. i might have to cut out the rear deck and reposition it to let the body down low enough over the back wheels to get what i want. I am trying to decide weather or not to go with the stock front end rebuilt or cut it and go with one of those race front ends. still researching that one.

Awesome project just can't say much more than that. It looks like it's pretty straight forward. That doesn't mean I think there isn't a lot of work involved but it looks like everything is there in front of you to get the subframe installed. I know there will be some tweaking to be done but it seems to me getting the body situated where you want it is going to be as much work as installing the subframe if not more. Wonder how hard this would be to do (other than lowering the body) with the body on the car? May not even be possible. If I'm dreaming or rambling don't pay attention got a broke foot so my mind is working overtime on what I can do or talk my buddies into doing when I can walk and not hobble. The more I look at it the more it looks very doable, I guess the biggest thing for me is it looks like the engineering part is already worked out (aside from chassis tuning). What references or sources are you using? I've done this kind of thing where a conventional rearend was used but never in our cars. Keep me posted, I think you have just ticked off my wife and created a monster.

Also does S&W have a web site?
