It's spray on thermal and sound barrier. Expensive stuff, but like the idea better then sticking the other stuff all over the place and you can spray this under the car too.
Sounds good. Wonder if it works?
It does not seem like its thick enough to reduce the heat though.
Would like to here from anyone who has used it also.
I talked to a guy at the company that was supposed to send me a picture of a Vette that had caught on fire. The only places that weren't burned up were where the lizard skin was. I'll post them when I get them.
Did you get a price and where to buy from? I still haven't put the carpet back in mine so this would be a good time to apply. Keep us posted on what you find out.
It's expensive. For one gallon of both the sound deadening and the thermal barrier it's $100. They say to paint both the top and bottom of the cockpit takes 4 gallons of each, so you're looking at around $400 in materials. I think they have a "where to buy" section on their web page. Call them and talk to them. The guy I talked to was really nice. I just ordered some, so I guess I'll be the guinea pig.
Its bubble wrap covered in foil. VERY easy to cut, thin, and teasy to stick in place using 3m spray adhesive
Out standing heat barrier, and deadens sound. and it WORKS
Get it at Lowes. About $30 a roll, WAY more than you need
Put this stuff in my '77, best $35 I have ever put in my car, reduced temps by quite a bit, and really helped when I plugged holes in firewall, put tranny foam collar in, and put shutoff valves in hotwater to heatercore. I think spending $400 for heat reduction might be a little overboard, but then again if it makes driving more comfortable, go for it.
I used the lizardskin on the entire interior of an 86 full size chevy pickup. I put it on during the summer of 04. It reduced the sound level inside the cab significantly.
I also bought the spray application kit but did not have very good luck with it. Maybe I didn't have the pressure adjusted correctly but it was within the range they recommended. It surged a lot while applying. It would spray very good for a few seconds then it would loose prime and hardly any material would be applied for maybe 15-20 seconds. Then it would prime again and work well for a few seconds. Maybe thinning the material would help it flow better.
I can't comment much on the heat part cause I redid the entire AC system at the same time. The AC did not work before. I do know that with the lizard skin and the new AC the interior of the truck cools like it should.
Just like the corvettes, the trucks could stand to have a better AC fan motor. You have to run the fan on high speed or the next lower speed to really feel the blower.
The stuff is pricey but once its on it makes a nice looking job. Have not had any problems with it adhering to painted sheet metal. I cleaned and prepped as they recommended.
Like the previous post mentions, I had a pleasent conversation with the inventor on the phone prior to purchase. He supplied his vendor information in Florida which was someone selling this stuff out of their house. They were not set up to take credit cards so I had to send them a check. I did received the product without problems.
I always wanted to ask the guy why the product was not available at conventional commercial outlets.
I would probably use the product again but the problems experienced while doing the spry application were definelty a hassel.
