I bought a different speedo driven gear to correct for the different transmission. The speedometer only worked for a short time. I took the gear out and can see that it is way too big for the cable. The gear just spins around the cable and does not bite at all. I bought the gear from the gearbox on ebay awhile back. Has anyone else had any problems like this? Where else could I purchase a gear?
go to a chevy dealer,,,,, my old th700 was way off so i took a drive while a friend followed in a 96,,,,,we had 2 way nextals,he held his at 60 and i was off 6-7mph.i took out that gear and got one 2 teeth bigger, every tooth is 3-4 mph (this was in a th-400) if i remember correctly $10.00
I rang up the chevy parts guy, told him what trans, rear and tire size and he looked somewhere and has ordered me the correct pair of gears.
I've not known him to be wrong yet.

were you 6-7mph high or low; i am running 20 mph off actual speed; so at 40 i am actually 60. so should i get a gear with 5 or 6 more or less teeth?? i am running a 4 speed, so does this rule of thumb still work??
