How do I trouble shoot a ignition miss with a HEI system. So far I have swapped from a small cap remote coil to large cap, new wires ,plugs. I have checked the ground wires and have 14.47 volts at the pink wire all the time regaurdless of engine speed. I have a vibration from just off idle through 3500+. I have a random popping in the exhaust from both mufflers. Where would I start????

The post is unclear, but indicates to me that you have changed distributor.
What year car?
True dual exhaust?
Did you have this miss problem before you changed distributor?
Exactly what ignition (points, brand) did you have before? ... and ...
Exactly what type HEI now (GM)?
On first GUESS, sounds like a couple sp wires may be crossed or bad.
The car is a 79 with a TPI engine. Started with a ecm controled small cap HEI changed over to a large cap in cap coil. It is a oem replacement ingnition system. The car does have true dual exhaust. Yes I had the miss before I changeg so I guess the next ting is to double check the wires....
