Is there anybody that can give me any ideas why my dash lights don't work? Fuses are good, headlights and signal lights work...just no dash lights. Could it be the headlight switch?
Yes it's the switch. The switch has a potentiometer incorperated into it. This is how you are able to brighten or dim the dash lights. It will be the coil spring on the switch. Usually the first sign will be the fuse blowing, but not always.
Good Luck
Steve

Thanks Steve,
Mine has just started blowing fuses so you saved me some time.
I have this problem too (along with a number of other electrical problems. Is there a procedure for checking out the switch? Not only do my dash lights not work but when I rotate the lights **** fully counter clockwize (I assume this is supposed to turn on the dome light but it doesn't), the light for the right turn signal in the tach goes on. Note that this light blinks as it is supposed to when I hit the turn signal.
I have the exact same problem. I just replaced the switch little parts where falling out of the switch. Still don't know if it worked. I'll let you know tonight.

Rich,
When mine does this it means that particular marker/signal lamp, either front or rear, needs replacing. It may flash but is it on when you turn the headlights on? In my case it was on but didn't flash. It's a 2 filament bulb, so one function usually still works. If this is not the case with your car, I would investigate the headlight switch, as the contact spring is wearing out. Try cleaning and repositioning the contact before buying a new switch.
Also, check the ground to the speedo. and the ground strap to the headlight switch (on early C-3's). The ground is necessary for the interior lights to function.
there is a ground to the headlight switch? I don't have one specifically to the switch... that might be my issue??? My dash lights don't work as well. However, my Hazzards flash and light in the dash. When I put on my turn signal, the same lights that hazzards use in the dash... just dim a little... but no flash. I even swapped out the blinker relay... Could this be the headlight switch as well? The brake light works fine and so does high beam indicator????
I found my issue for the dash lights... blown fuse... he heee That fuse is so small... I looked right passed it last night and thought it was good. All dash lights work... but still having turn signal issue. Maybe I can bypass the light switch to check and see if that is the issue...
