Probably going to rebuild my alternator with a 65 amp upgraded kit in anticipation of putting in both electric dual fans and some added stereo equipment (nothing crazy....starting with a single amp/10" woofer).
Rebuild seems pretty straightforward but I was wondering about the casing....
Is it possible / ok to re-paint the casing? I would imagine I should simply a) avoid getting paint on the interior of the casing and b) go with a high temp paint?
I am sure someone has done this before but I did a search on alternator rebuild and did not find anything.

The only caveat to rebuilding the alternator is make sure you get the insulated screws back into the same locations that they came out of, and when putting the new set of windings in, do not let them get grounded to the casing and you will be fine. I took my old alternator apart and bead blasted the case. I then sent it out to be powder coated and it came out really nice. If you paint it, get the casing cleaned up good and paint it your choice of colors.
