When i purchased my 69 BB recently it was obvious that the clutch pedal was'nt where it should be, meaning at release it was about 3 inches further from the floor than the brake pedal. I tried adjusting it even with the brake pedal and the clutch would'nt even attempt to disengage so I put it back where it was and assumed the clutch was that worn. Well i pulled the engine and trans this week and the clutch really was'nt worn that much. What would cause the clutch pedal to be so far from the floor? I know from the previous owner that the clutch and pressure plate were replaced during an engine rebuild about 50,000 miles ago. I'm wondering if someone might have changed the throwout bearing release fork because it has an awful hard bend where it exits the bell housing, but does'nt apear to be stress bent or rewelded

You mention that the clutch is releasing 3" further from the floor than the brake pedal. With both pedals released, they should be about even from the floor - both pedals the same height. If this is not the case, check and see if both rubber pedal stops are in place.
