Default Spiral piston locks

How the hell do you get them in.
I'm followed the directions but still not able to install them.

Is there an alternate lock that can be used?

I'm going to call engine company on Monday but if someone here knows
it would speed up the process.
I have the crank in and cam need to do the pistons next.

Any help??

What's your process? If you pull the ends apart to make it sort of a spring they screw in place pretty easy, it's the removal that's a b!tch

Be sure to install them dry. First one before the pin goes in (2x for double spirolocs) then install the pin, then the last lock(s). Oil the assembly after you have the locks in place. You want to get oil in there before startup but not when assembling. Thats the way I have done it.

Pull the tail out, set it in the groove, work it around down into the groove carefully untill you have the tail about 2/3 of the way installed. It should walk in easy the rest of the way from there without spinning.

Getting them IN is WAY easier than getting them OUT without stabbing your fingers full of holes.

Hope this helps.

It takes practice to get the dual locks in once you get the first one in the rest are easy...I used a jewlers screwdriver to push the end of the last lock in place.

That's the way I've been trying, dry put in one side first then slide in the pin. I haven't gotten the first one in yet I'm gonna try again today.

Thanks.

I was like you. I was so frustrated and didn't want to put scratches in the pin area. I boxed everything up and went down to the racing machine shop and ask for help. The guy at the counter gave me a 5 minute lesson and we had them all done in 15 minutes.

Getting them out years later I used an ice pick and a jewlers screw driver like GDaina suggested.

They called for double locks, and I only cut my finger once so far,7 more to go. I have to solve the cam to rod issue first.

Gotta wait to Monday to call Howards Cams to check the cam specs

Arrgg!!!
