Default Shift kits

Hey all I have a 77 vette with a L-48 engine in it. I was wondering about putting a Hurst dual shifter in it or a transgo shift kit. Does anyone have one or know how well they work. Im wondering if Im just better off switching to standard all together. Thanks casey

Well I'd take a standard trans any day but shift feel and timing are much improved with the "Shift Improver Kit" I installed. It's only a hard shift when you're really on the throttle, normally it's just a nice quick shift. Win-win situation

edit: oh and cleanliness is a must. Don't try to use latex gloves as they'll just melt and fall apart into the transmission. The directions kindof suck but I was able to figure out what they meant, or you can ask here.

I will take this advice because I will need all I can get. But what did you install the hurst ot the Trans-go. Also having this in your car pretty much turns it into a 3-speed manual with-out a clutch right?

Trans Go for me.
First used one in my 1971 429 SCJ Mustang - perfect results - perfect instructions.

So, now I got a kit ready for my 81 Vette.
Well, actually I got two !!
Paid for one but they sent two kits.......... spare one on the shelf I suppose.

Oh sorry we are talking about two different things. If you want to shift manually you need to get a full-manual valve body. What I was talking about was the shift kits that are just a plate that goes between the valvebody and the transmission case. Same auto shifting just better. And I used the B&M Shift Improver Kit in "street/strip" form.
