This weekend I removed the intake manifold on my 1980 C3 350 to fix a broken stud. Anyway now having put everything back together I've noticed an oil leak from the back of the engine where the intake meets the block just next to the distributor. I hope this is just a poorly assembled gasket but I can't believe that oil would naturally come out from here, it's not much but enough to worry about.
Thinking about it, it could be a few things;
1: Poorly assembled rubber gasket thingy....
2: High crank case pressure forcing oil out because of an incorrectly assembled vacuum line/smog line (I was sure I did a good job of labeling things)
3: High crank case pressure because of a blocked breather (not sure where this could be)
Has anyone found this before?
Does anyone have a schematic of the vacuum hose system?
Probably the rubber gasket. The best thing to do is throw away the rubber end gaskets, place a bead of silicone on the rails of the motor and let it "skin" over. When this is done install the intake and go about your way.
