How difficult is it to remove the doors on a '72? Once removed, is there any issues getting them lined up when putting them back on?
Any advice or techniques would be appreciated.
Thanks.
The way I remove the doors is by removing the pin on the bottom hinge. Then remove the bolts that hold the upper hinge to the door. Also I mark the bolt heads/washers on the door to help with lineup. By removing the lower pin the height will not change for reinstallation. You will only have to adjust the upper bolts. Be sure to use a jack for supporting the weight of the door. They are heavy. Good Luck,
i use spray paint and spray the bolts and surrounding area so that when you pull the bolts out, there is paint everywhere except were the bolt goes. that makes it real easy to line back up.
Extremely heavy if it's not a bare door; heavier than they ought to be even bare. Also bulky. Be extremely careful of potentially sharp edges on those inner door stampings. You can ruin a finger in a heart beat.
