Thinking of upgrading to stainless steel exhaust on a 69 sb. Any thoughts? Anyone have a stock-like system made of stainless? Do you like and where did you get it?

Many of the vendors here sell the stainless system, either 2" or 2 1/2". I purchased the 2 1/2's from Allens in 1991 and it still looks great today. Fully welded except where the rear pipes connect to the head pipes at the middle crossmember. Fit is excellent and the sound is good as well.
In my opinion it was well worth the additional cost over the aluminized steel.
The only problem I had was that I didn't slide the pipes (front & rear)together completely (the two sides come closest together under the rear strut bracket) . A couple of years later I went to install "smart struts" and realized my mistake. It was a pain to loosen them and slide them into position correctly. Do it right the first time and you won't have to redo it like I did.
What about stainless mufflers...who makes those? I've seen stainless exhaust and aluminized mufflers.
Stainless works sells the whole system in stainless. Whole system except tips for about $700. Needs to be tweeked to fit right. Mufflers are very good quality, mandrel bends are excellent. Location of pipes runnign under passenger floor board and under pumpkin is pretty ordinary. They make polished stainless "hot-rod" style exhaust tips that are excellent, fully welded and almost indestructable.
Here is mine after I tweeked the system and added a magaflow X-pipe.
Mufflers look much nicer when polished and clean! Mine were like a mirror once.
I checked out the stainless from stainless works. Looks good. A little expensive. Will aluminized work. This car will be a weekend driver and stored in a garage most of the time. What is an alluminized exhaust system?
I bought the aluminum chambered from Stainless Works. Here is a pic. Sound and look great.
Installation was very easy. Had to make a rear bracket, welded all joints except in front of where exhaust went through the frame. Solid as a rock, no rattles, no vibration. Put an H pipe in also. No backfire, no resonance. Pure sound.
...stainless is the ultimate way to go. I've had Allen's Stainless Exhaust on my '75, '74 & '68 convertible since the early '90's. Stuff is great, doesn't rust(aka carbon fusing together)and comes apart easily when you need it to. I love the stuff and will be doing the same to my '68 coupe when it needs it.
