Default Fan Shroud

If I replace the clutch fan with an electric fan can I remove the original fan shroud from the vehicle with out any problems?

Default electric fan

I replaced my fan with electric and removed the fan shroud and it seems to be cooling ok but now that the weather is cool I am keeping all my old stuff in case it does not properly cool in the summer heat.

It's personal choice ... but remember that an elect fan is designed to be mounted 1/4" away from the radiator. So if you mount the fan where it is supposed to be, why would you want that huge plastic shroud blocking access to the front of the motor?

The instructions show to mount it right to the radiator. Is this wrong? Why wouldn't they design the built in shroud differently?
