If the pop comes when you step on the gas, your accelerator pump may be bad. To check remove the air cleaner follow the pump linkage to the top driver side of the carb. Push down on the pump shaft and look down the venturi for a strong steady stream of gas into the primaries. Ron B.

Also I think you guys might be right. My choke doesn't work so it would make sense that the carb leans out when it's warming up.
the accelerator pump has a small resorvior of gas in it and works just like an old fashion lever action water pump...except for gas.....when you step on the gas pedal it makes a linkage push a lever and instantaneously squirt gas into the venturis....however i would guess most carbs have diaphrams in them so if that is torn nothing happens.....to check this with the car turned off take off the air cleaner and go to WOT and you should see gas squirting into the carb from a small hole some where.
carb popping is when the vehicle gas air mixture is too lean. Sounds like you get a good squirt from the accelerator pump just sounds like your not choking enough till the vehicle warms up. Id say fix the choke and the problem is solved..
You must be right, my Q-Jet doesn't work with the new intake manifold. But is the poping dangerous? I am saving up for a Demon but the Mighty Demon 750 that I plan on buying doesn't have a choke at all.
