Hello,
I recently purchased a 1974 Corvette with a 454/4-speed. The gentlemen that owned it before had put quite a lot of money into the engine (high-compression pistons, milled head, Edelbrock intake and carb, headers) and it currently has an upgraded breakerless ignition system. It was running a bit rough, especially under hard acceleration, so my mechanic and I adjusted the timing (as it was quite far advanced) and now it is running quite a bit better, but the mechanic suggested that I upgrade the ignition system to an HEI set-up or something else with more power. My question is this: I would prefer to keep my existing plug wires, tach drive and chrome distributor cover and I wondered if I upgraded to a MSN Pro Billet Tach Drive distributor with a MSD 6AL ignition if it would still fit under the chrome cover. Also, I wanted to know what current users of this set-up thought of it.
Thank you for your time,
Erik
I have a full MSD ignition including Pro Billet tach drive distributor, wires, coil, and 6AL. I don't use any of the ignition sheilding, so I don't know if it will fit under it, but it made a noticeable difference from the Accel dual point distributor I had before it. It started easier and ran much smoother.
i have the msd tach drive dist,6 al box and larger wires, for my 383 motor,,as you can see in the photo fits under the stock shielding --------------------------------------------
