Anyone know where you can dig up a pair of these? I saw a '71 Vette with 'em, nice looking. Wonder what other benefits they'd have besides lookign/sounding nice? Any extra horsepower? I tried looking on eBay, but no luck.

are these something new? Sidepipes? There is an auction that just ended for a pair of old Thrush sidepipes that favor the 69 sidepipes. Is this what your talking about?

Keep checking ebay. They turn up quite often. You should be able to pick up a set for under $200. I doubt you would gain any horsepower from them as the inlet is only 2". They way they work is you have a 2" pipe with the thrush mufflers on them. These slide into the sidepipe covers and the whole thing gets mounted to the body with brackets that are basically a standard U exhaust clamp and a piece of angle iron.

You could probably use the covers and run 2.5" pipe as long as you modified the inlet elbow. It necks down right at the pipe entrance.

The thrush side exhaust are covers that fit on whatever size pipes you choose to run. The made 2 styles, The aluminum ones that look like '69 Corvette and chromed steel covers that I have on my car. I used 2 1/4" pipe with high quality bottle mufflers. The muffler shops all stock high quality straight thru bottle mufflers that are about the same price as the sorta crappy "cherry bombs" etc. available at the local parts store. I'm happy with my system.
