Broken motor mount
Just changed the upper radiator hose on my 69 BB. It had a groove worn in it from the alt. belt. The hose is about 3/4" above the belt. I think there are 2 choices to check out. I have recently messed with the belts when I changed the PS pump. What a pain in the butt. A loose belt may have hit the hose then. Or, a broken motor mount--hope not. The mounts were replaced about 3 yrs ago when I rebuilt the engine. Bought from autozone, don't know any more about them.
The engine does lift about 1/8" when I rev it up, but I think that is normal. How do you check for broken motor mounts?

Easiest way that I know of is to put a jack under the oil pan with a 2X4 to protect the pan. Raise the engine a little. Usually, the drivers side will go first so look on that side to see if it separates.

When my motor mount was broken the engine would torque up more than an inch. It moved so far that the fan hit the shroud. If it's an automatic you can brake-torque it while the hood is up. That'll show you for sure.
