Tranny Advice
Hey all,
Need some advice. Twice now I've had problems getting my '72 Stingray (350/ 4spd) to go into a forward gear after I've backed it out of it's parking space. When parked it's in reverse (so I can get the key out) but on two occasions I couldn't get it to go into any forward gear- was able to get it to go back into reverse though. It acted like it was in neutral when I tried to get it into a forward gear. After a couple of minutes I got it into gear and everything worked fine- drove it the rest of the day without any problems. Any advice on what I should check?

I would look into the shifter linkage first. More then likely there are some bushings that are worn and the linkage isn’t getting all the way out of reverse, so then you can’t get into any other gear. It happened to me once on a bronco 3spd before.
