Headlights go on, Interior lights go off.....please help
Hello there,
I have been helping a friend with repairs on his '77 Vette L82. Its got the 350 engine 350 tranny.
He has this problem that when he turns the headlights on, all dash and guage lights go off and the console guages go towards the negative side, like a short somewhere. All fuses were tested and all were fine. I was told that sometimes the head lamp switch will cause this, i dont see how it zeros out the guages tho. Before i tear into the dash clusters and everything, i was wondering if anyone else heard of this issue, or could give some ideas on doing this dash/console removal bit.

I'm with Easy Mike, sounds like the headlight switch. See if anything happens with the lights by twisting & banging on the switch. There is a slight chance it is a wiring problem like loose/broken/rusty wires or connections on the switch. I'll put my money on the switch being broken inside & needs to be replaced with a new one.
