Default dummy Muncie Q...

output shaft seal leaking. I remember long ago pulling the Muncie from my '69 Z-28 was a piece of cake. First Vette, tho. What's involved in getting it out of a '73? Looks to me like the crossmember is factory welded in. Thanks.

Not that hard, take off the obvious stuff (drive shaft, speedo cable etc.) Remove the shifter and its bracket, trans mount. Unbolt from bell housing slide trans back until the input shaft clears the bell housing. Then drop it down in front and slide it out. Note: It would be a good time to change the + battery cable (you'll see what I mean when you get the trans out. Replace the transmission tunnel insulation too.

Duke, Thanks a bunch. Doesn't sound much harder than my Camaro. Other than getting it high enough off the ground.

I did mine 2 weeks ago and the shifter removal and install was the hardest part. Have fun. Volvette.com had some good prices on the trans mount, tunnel insulation, shifter boot. I also purchased the tunnel foam insulation 1/2 ring but it was a pia to get on, if you want to install this I would recommend taking the bellhousing off and then positioning the ring.
