Hello everyone, I am fairly new corvette owner...so here it goes. I own a 1979 Corvette L-82 with a turbo 350 transmission. Recentlysu I was unable to shift into high gear. I would put the automatic shifting into 3...and the car would shift through 1st and 2nd...but not 3rd. Well, I decided to get the transmission rebuilt. I upgraded to a high performance torque converter, well I just test drove the car and it still doesnt shift into the final gear.....I was traveling about 70 miles and hour..but the tachometer was reading just below the 5000 rpm caution. Shouldnt the car shift into 3rd gear already.....Could someone please let me know what the tachometer typically is reading when you travel 70 mph....need help....any suggestions..thank you

My car would be a little over 3000- and at 80 it would be at around 3500rpm. I was having a similar problem, My car would down shift to second then not shift to 3rd. After a couple of months it fixed its self(Dont ask me how) So I said screw it and took it to the shop and I am now getting a th700 now.
