Cold...1200 to 1500 is about right...comes down when the engine warms up right??? Should come down to about 600-700.
If it stays high and doesn't come down its probably the CTS (coolant temp sensor) at the front of the engine.
If your idle is typically a little high I would gently tighten down the bolts on the throttle plate and throttle bodies. They tend to loosen over time. You may have a very minor vac leak through there.
