Ahhh, stupid Q-jet
My stupid carb will not let the secondarys turn on, or let the choke off! it sits there and idles at 2000 rpm and never goes down untill I get out of the car and adjust the choke by hand, and then when I give it gas it does it all over again! So Im just tired of it!
Will going to a different carb affect my car? The Q-jet was set to my motor.
Thanks guys: Gene.
You have a problem with your choke linkage, or adjustment. When the choke is on, there's a lever that keeps the secondaries from opening. Simple stuff -- that's all.
Lars has written a paper on how to properly adjust your choke -- drop him a line and request a copy. A copy of the book Rochester Carburetors by Doug Roe (can you say "Amazon.com"?) would be helpful.
Remember, you can't just slap an Edelbrock on there. Ya gotta replace the intake, too. So if you can replace a carb and intake, you surely can adjust a choke and make sure it's working okay.
