Just to clarify my MC is for power brakes. So I do or do not need to pull the piston out of the MC and send it to you?

As far as the line adapters go I hope to order them this week. I ordered the BB brackets for my alternator and PS pump from ZIP but they are on back order so I can't mount the PS pump yet.

Thanks again and as soon as I hear back from you on whether or not to pull the piston I will get on it and shoot a pic to post so I know I have the right thing to send to you.
Wade I don't know. I do know that my manual master cylinder had too deep on a hole in the piston of the master cylinder and when you pushed the brakes nothing happened because while the hydroboost was pushing the rod out it was not hitting the bottom of the hole and activating the master cylinder.
I do have my hydroboost off the car. I can measure the dept of the hole and we can compare how deep you need to be.
I am not at the shop and will not be going there until tomorrow night but I will measure the depth of the hole. Some power master cylinders had shallow holes. some did not.

Norval and Black Rat here is a description of the differant MC

see the differance in the two pistons:

76 and ealier used the deep one and 77 and latter used the shallow one.

I got the HB mounted to the firewall today and the clevis connected to the pedal. man that was a real PITA!!! I also pulled the cylinder out of the MC and going by what chevymans77 posted I definately have the deeper pre 77 MC.

Norval I hate to ask you to fab me a new one if I could just get a rebuilt post 77 unit from one of the parts houses. Would you think that would be easier or worth looking into?

Thanks
Wade

Norval or anyone else who has purchased the fittings for adapting the HB lines. I contacted www.colemanracing.com looking for part numbers, #ALL48210 6 male to 16 mm fitting with O ring and
#ALL48212 6 male to 18 mm fitting with O ring. They told me that these are MotorState part #'s and that they do not carry them. Did I go to the wrong coleman racing?

Thanks Wade

Wade I have a catalogue open in front of me right now. They are Allstar performance part numbers. The catalogue says Circle track on the front. OUr local supplier is Grisdale Racing. website www.grisdale.com email info@grisdale.com

I have these parts/adapters in stock in my shop. If you want them I can send them to you and they will cost you what it costs me to replace them
These part numbers are out of my catalogue.
Could to also ask coleman by refering to the sizes I gave
They are listed as GM Power steering Fittings
6 male to 16 mm fitting w/0 ring
6 male to 18 mm fitting w/o ring
They supply our local race shop.
Wade I don't mind making a new shallow piston. It is the piston in the middle of the picture with the spring on it. Send it complete as it so I can screw the spring back on like stock.
It would only take me a day turnaround.

Thanks Norval. I actually sent them the full description that you sent me of the fittings. I may have the wrong colemanracing web site. PM me your address and I will get the piston in the mail to you tomorrow.

Thanks
Wade

Could you Norval be so kind and post us before and after pictures of that modification. This thread made me thinking of HB system too

Wade the big convenience is shipping, not making a new piston. It is really esay to whip one up with a shallow hole. Since it is easy to remove the piston from the master cylinder is drill it shallow, assemble it agian and hold it against the hydroboost and guestimate show much deeper I need to drill and redrill it to that depth.
In my none power master cylinder I have a 1 inch cylinder. If your is power it is I think 1 1/4 inches.
I can duplicate anything quickly but I add about .010 onto the seal dimensions to tighten up the O rings.
Send my your old piston and I will duplicate it, if it is only a 1 inch bore I can send you the one out of my master cylinder and make myself a new one.
Turnaround should be about 1 day.. Send UPS and I would get it in about 3 days, one day to make the new one and right back to you by UPS.
I will PM you my address
It is no problem Wade to make a new piston.

I can certainly take picture of the stock beside the homemade one.
It will be 2024 aircraft quality billet aluminum

Norval , your input for this community is top notch! As you said pics are 3000 times better to figure things out than words.

Ill bet its aircraft aluminium in your case

2024 is aircraft aluminum. It is not hard to duplicate a stock piston, leave a little extra on the seal surface and drill the hole shallower. No problem at all.

I got everything backwards. This is a old post. Someone brought it forward and I mistook it for Blackrat needing my help.
He was suprised when I got in touch with him and told him I would make the piston.
He has the system up and running and again that was a old old post.
Sorry
