Wiper Door
the problem. Wiper door won't close.
Know my question is can you check to see if the wiper relay is working
properly, I replaced it with a new one and have exhausted every other
thing I can think of.
Butch
It cost me a bundle, but I wanted to eliminate every possibility. Now my wiper and headlight stuff is all new. Drove me crazy, like it's doing to you. I hope you figure it out soon.
Good luck
I replaced everything but the actuator .....But if I run a hose directly to the actuator it will close
I figured it out........As I stated in previous posts, I went through the entire system.......And as it always is the problem was staring me in the face. Turns out the pull down switch under the dash had a broken nipple, So I thought I'd just plug up the hose's and it would still work.
So after giving it a lot of thought I looped a hose to connect the two and guess what................It works like it just came from the factory.
Oh well, at least I have all new parts and it shouldn't give me any trouble in the future
Once again thanks to every one who took the time to help out!!!!
Know I think I'm going to a scotch (or two)
The small hose near the top of the relay is the signal port. There are three large ports below the signal. The middle is the source, the bottom is the port connected to supply when there is no signal vacuum. When vacuum is applied to the signal port the vacuum from the center port should be redirected to the top port nearest to the pilot port.
There should be little to no vacuum leakage accross uncommunicated ports.
To test the system plumb vacuum to the central port of the relay. vacuum should go ONLY to the bottom outlet port.
Now, add a second vacuum source to the pilot (small port near the top of the relay) and the vacuum should now switch to the other large port on the relay.
This is fully illustrated in the service manual. It is on page12-48 in the '69 version.
