Instead of the load being spread out over a larger area you effectively have two points of contact where the shock bolts to the lower arm.

Default qa1 coil overs

so what is the fix? change stock control arm and if so to what?
i like the idea of coil overs

I had them on my firebird for years with stock lower arms and no troubles....

I'm running the VanSteel setup which includes tube A-Arms upper & lower, and off set T/As in the rear & no leaf spring. QA1s coilovers on all four corners with Hyperco springs. It's a great set up.
