Instead of the load being spread out over a larger area you effectively have two points of contact where the shock bolts to the lower arm.

I'm running the VanSteel setup which includes tube A-Arms upper & lower, and off set T/As in the rear & no leaf spring. QA1s coilovers on all four corners with Hyperco springs. It's a great set up.
