Default is this a q-jet problem

after doin a compression test on my 71BB, i put it all back together and put in new points and tuned it up... went for drive and it ran well until the lever came off the power piston...limped home and got it back on, but now car won't idle at all... what am i missing here.

i'm talkin about the lever that pushes down the piston on the carb...what its called escapes me, having a senior moment here... but i put it back on but now car won't idle. i can start it but it dies if i don't give it gas...

It's called the accellerator pump. No, it doesn't affect any other circuit. I'd check your dwell just for grins. Not uncommon for the gap to close up after a tuneup when the set isn't tightened down right.

accel pump, THAT'S IT!!! thanx gerry, couldn't think of it to save my life... i'll check the points tommorrow and let you know if that does it... ron

that's it. the points were the problem. i learned something new today, didn't think points would cause it do that. getting a lil backfire occasionally outta exhaust but at least its running... i'll do some fine tuning later... this forum is the best...no question.... thanks guys

If you have a dwell meter, set the dwell to 30/31.
