I'm using Hawk HPS on my '73 (VB&P) and have had no problems. Good bite and little dust. They are ocassionally noisey, but not so often to be an issue.
I also just installed EBC Green Stuffs on my 2000 and like them even more. They are not an ultra high performance pad, but there is no noise and little dust. Bite is at least as good as the Hawk's without any noise and less dust.
I also concur with those that choose the organics for routine use. They are very quiet with very little dust and tend to be very inexpensive. VB&P also carries them. They will fade pretty quickly under heavy usage, but are more than adequate on the street under normal usage.
