I know you're not supposed to let wires touch the headers. It's obvious and I've learned from the school of hard knocks a few times anyways.
I'm sick of my "over the intake manifold" spark plug wires and want to run them under the headers again. How hot do the header pipes get with a well-tuned motor? (if anything, my car errs on the side of rich).
Any recommendations for a set to throw underneath my headers? HEI car.
I run Dynomax Ceramacote headers on my 74 and I use the stock spark plug wiring. I've had it set up that way for about 4 or 5 years and haven't had a problem with wires close to the headers. The only problem I have is when I try to connect a timing light to the #1 plug. Usually I burn the clamp because it touches the header. I'm now connecting the light to #1 at the distributor cap tower. Other than that the stock location works great.
I had a problem going over the top. So this time, I bought MSD wires, didnt cut them, and ran them underneath. Seems to be working fine:

Moroso Blue Max spiral core w/ the angle connectors.
If by angled you mean 90* I put those in my wish-list at summit last night shortly after posting. I think I've read too many of your posts, Ganey! We're really starting to think alike.
I'm also going to throw some wrap around the wires for added safety - DEI Protect-a-Wire slide over sleeves.
