Default C3 Lower control arm mounts

I just recently purchased a 76 vette for my wife which she promptly overturned the motor and am replacing it. After removing the engine, I noticed that the rear lower control arm mounts have cracked severely where they mount to the crossmember. I am pretty good witha welder though I wondered if anyone out there encountered the same and is there a way to strengthen it?

Common problem, weld them back up properly (the factory can't weld), might want to add gussets to reinforce that area. Also check the channels under the crossmember, they're spot welded and can come loose also, weld a nice bead along the sides to strengthen it.

That problem shows up from time to time. Hammer everything back where it belongs. You need to remove the lower control arm assy. to do it right. Clean everything and weld away. Add additional welds to reinforce as necessary.G/L

Many people seeking stronger frames or better handling have welded in 'gussets' into those corners. They also usually weld up all the seams to replace the factory spot welds. If you get carried away you may end up doing the whole frame You're a good welder, you know what to do
