The day has come for the install of the 383, so I stayed home from work and dropped it in. Sweet!
I have purchased a hi-torque starter (used)
and was ready to install this afternoon when I noticed the solenoid is a little different than the stock solenoid.
It has a battery post and a main post for the starter motor
but no side post(s). How is this suppose to wire? I have no documentation on this starter and not sure what to do with it.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

From: Arlington Va Current ride 04 vert, previous vettes: 69 vert, 77 resto mod
on my 77 with the hi torque starter i put on, the wire from the key switch went to the small terminal on the solenoid, the rest of the wires went to the same terminal as the battery supply line. you do have an HEI correct?
Yes, I have HEI, but there is no small terminal. All the posts on the solenoid are the battery (top) post and the starter (bottom) post. Nothing on either side.
I the bottom (fuzzy) picture there appears to be a wire in the left center of the solenoid. That is probably the engage wire that will mate to the original purple wire.
I hope this is better, I think I may need a better camera.
There is a wire on the left side of the solenoid, but it is a fixed terminal (no nut, just a stamped connection) that leads up to and connects to the "battery" terminal.

To take a better close up picture, use the macro function on your camera. It is the setting that looks like a flower, most of the time. Hold your camera close and let it focus on what you want to shoot and then click away. Hope this helps.
The missing connection is used to bypass the resistor wire to the ignition coil during starting.
You only want to connect the resistor wire and leave the other one unconnected. It's only there for those cold winter days when the car is hard to start. And only then if points are used.
OK, for those that would like to know this I have the answer. for those who already know, please bear with us.
This starter requires the use of a remote solenoid (ie. ford).
The battery cable will connect to the battery post of the remote solenoid.
The solenoid wire that engages the starter will connect to the remote solenoid (ie. side post).
The starter post of the remote solenoid will connect to the Chevy solenoid.
I hope this doesnt confuse anybody.
I had to ask my dad who was a parts man for 25 years. He knew the answer right away.
