Hi everyone, I finished setting up the valve adjustment on my 1980 a while back. I noticed that I am getting some noise again from the rocker arms and it appears that one or two of the fastening nuts for the rocker arms is getting loose. Could I use some lock tight on the rocker arm nuts when completing final adjustment to prevent them from getting loose, or should I look for another type of Nut ? Thanks
Hi , I am sure that you know that you need to give the offending nuts a real close inspection as well as everything related to the specfic cylinders as well as the rest of 'em, , push rod, rocker arm, ball, stud, if everything looks good I betcha that you can just get new nuts and be done with it,,,try and spy the cam lobes somehow, they do wear out ya know. Peace,,,,Moosie
I will purchase some new rocker arm nuts and maybe place a small amount of loctite when doing the install. This I hope will resolve the problem. Thanks
the inserts will wear out during tightening and loosening. you may try posilocks. you may need a little more clearance on the top but they are worth it.
