Default Power Steering Options

What are the reasonably priced upgrade options? Has anyone retrofit a C4 or C5 steering setup? And I don't want to pay 1.3K for the Steeroids conversion.

Default Why Not

Why not just go with the power steering upgrade from one of the Corvette parts houses, such as Corvette Central? The standard Corvette power steering may not be the best design in the world, but it works pretty well, IMHO.

I've already rebuilt my setup and I still don't like it. Too much play, too much assist, and too much bump steer.

The problem with retro-fitting a late model rack is most of them are end-take-off racks meaning the tie rods connect to the ends of the rack. This pretty much eliminates your adjustability. You would have to hope the rack would be just the right length for the C3. There are some racks that have the tie rods connect near the center such as the steeroids rack. Which I think is actually a Grand Am rack. From there you can make a bracket to mount the tie rods and ensure they are the correct length for your car.

Here is a C5 rack. Notice how the center is solid and the ends move in and out.

Here is a Grand Am rack. Notice how the moveable section is in the middle.

Rack and pinion is one solution, The Jeep power box is aparently another.

Either can be bought or done yourself if you like to fab things.
