Happy Thanksgiving all. The search engine is disabled, and was curious if anyone has converted the vaccum actuated wiper door setup? I'm considering the electric headlight motors and would love to remove the rest of the vaccum stuff associated with the wiper door as well.

I believe you need to get in touch with 69myway. He has done exactly what you are talking about. I know he makes the kits to convert the headlights. I know he has made his wiper door electric. I don't know if he makes a kit for the wiper door though. I am sure if you can get in touch with him, he would share some details about his project.

Couldn't you just buy a 73 or later hood and add it? Then you can remove the vacuum stuff and be done with it. It would look and act like a 73 and up.

Aye, you could, but I like the factory setup with the hideaway door. I plan to eliminate the headlight vacuum setup, and would like to still be able to raise and lower the wiper door, just without vacuum.

Don't believe the 73 + hood would match the 72- fenders.
There are aftermarket hoods that are made to put on a 68-72 to eliminate the wiper door and still match the fenders. I have an L88 hood like this on my car.
Yes, there are after market hoods made for this replacement. If/when you remove the wiper door and it's components, you should keep them and the original hood for the next owner. Removing the wiper door and it's components makes all the remaining "original" cars with wiper doors more valuable IMHO.
I'm keeping the original setup. I have gotten the door transmission 'somewhat loose' to the point where I was able to install it in the car. I need to have it in so the door and grill are there to help align the front clip of the car before bonding.
Two remaining questions:
I can't seem to find a rebuild kit for the wiper transmission, anyone know of where to get one?
Still haven't found any one who has used an electric motor replacement for the vacuum canister on the firewall.
I'm gathering the parts to convert the headlights, and am considering a Hydroboost, would the only vacuum left would be the wiper door?...How nice would it be to have no vacuum, but I think the AC/heater system still uses vacuum?
