It's not bad enough that there are choke coil setups that push up when heated and some that pull down when heated, but each of the choke coil configurations has a "mirror image" which means you also have to get the correct cover with the cut out in the right orientation.

I went through the exact same scenario with mine. I'm currently running a '69 Q-jet service carb 7029207 (originally for a 350/350) which has the choke coil operating in the reverse direction of the original '68 Q-jet 7028209 which I restored last winter but haven't installed in the car yet. I will have to replace the choke coil at that time too.

You may have to take your choke coil to someplace local and in person like Paragon and have them find the one that works for you.
