pushrod guideplate alignment

Does any one have good tips on how to adjust small block guideplates to get the minimum pushrod clearance from the intake port and still keep the rocker centered on the valve?

I had to move a few of mine all the way over so that the pushrod would clear the head casting. From my understanding, the guideplates won't allow the pushrods to be malaligned no matter how you move them as long as they're installed properly. I'd just make sure that you have appropriate clearances.

This is sometimes a major issue in order to maximize the power from an intake port that has to be moved in the direction of the pushrod or in your case, where you need more (intake) pushrod/head clearance. We weld many of the heads we do on the (outer) side-wall where the pushrod passes to try to give the port a straighter path. In order to make it all work, we simply use offset rockers on the intakes and a set of Isky adjustable guide plates. The guide plates give you plenty of clearance at the pushrods on the intakes AND much more lateral adjustment to place the roller tip on the center of the valves. The power gains are also substantial with this procedure. It takes a little longer on final ***'y, but is worth the work. Thanks, Gary in N.Y.
P.S. This pertains to (SB) units built on the 23 degree platform.
