Not that hard, straight forward, just use the tool to slide the clips out from the locks and handles and the glass is held in place by some special bolts and nuts

In addition, the 1971 GM Service Manual gives a good description on how adjust the door glass once you get it all back together. All in all, the GM manual is far better than Chilton or Haynes. Just my opinion.
Also check out the last edition of Corvette Fever magazine (or perhaps it was the issue before last). The have a good description about how to remove the glass and how to renew the internal mechanisms. Lots of pictures also. Maybe you can access the article on their webpage.
Easy task. Just pull the door handle by removing the screw in behind it. Crank handle spring pops out to remove window handle. Remove panel screws located around perimeter. Then remove the felt rattle guides (inside on top of the door... they help to keep glass pushed out and upright...)
The glass is held in with two tracks, front and rear (verticle position). It is not necessary to remove tracks to remove glass. Looking through the door from inside you will see two stops held with bolts. One stop per window track located at the top of each track. Remove the bolt.. .7/16 I think... and then roll up the window. Now you will see two more nuts inside on the horizontal slide. These hold the window to the slider track. Unbolt these and "wiggle" the window out off the the slider track. PIECE OF CAKE!
Just remember, when putting the window back... do not over tighten the window bolts... (horizontal slider) CRACK>>>>>> You can get them pretty snug without cracking... hope this helps.
Be EXTREMELY careful when removing door glasses. Make sure you prop up the bottom rail to ensure the window won't fall. Door glasses are 19 times heavier than they ought to be and the door has lot of sharp edges. It would be easy to cut a finger on a sharp metal edge if the door glass fell.
