I don't have my old one to reference so I went to Napa to buy a new one. They are "Uninversal" so I wanted to see if I have the right thing. From coil to coil it is 3.5 inches long. From the end of the hook to the other end of the hook- 5.85 inches. Itis 3/4 inched thick. Does this sound right for '79?
I just measured an extra one I had laying around the garage. It appears closer to 2 3/8" coils and 4 1/4" long. Diameter is about 5/8". Try yours and see if it pulls the clutch back all the way. That's probably all that's important.
PS: there are also two springs that go on the rod that goes from the Z bar to the throughout fork. But, I think their purpose is just antirattle.
Thanks for measuring that for me. I will give it a try.
Yea, I need the other anti-rattle 2 springs that go into the other bar as well- You don't happen to know where those are sold? I called Chevy and they don;t have them. Wish that a local store carried them..
