My compressor is making a knocking noise even when it's free-wheeling...gets louder when I turn on the A/C....having it checked out on Monday. The compressor is 2 years old. I believe the bearing in the clutch has gone south. And that may be the result of the compressor pulley and crankshaft pulley being slightly misaligned....you may want to check that. Or the belt was WAY to tight.... just my 2cents.
