Power steering slave cylinder replacement
Hey, I was reading the recent post about replacing the cylinder and had a few questions myself.
I had a leak in my power steering system a while back, it would be fine for a few days and then I would come back and all of the fluid would be drained out on the floor. I got under the car to see if I could tell where it was leaking from but everything looked worn out so I decided it was time to replace the cylinder and the hoses.
From what I read it is going to be more involved than just putting all the new parts on and bleeding the system. It will throw my front alignment off? I don’t understand what needs to be done other than installation. I will go read the Haynes Manuel (have not done that yet) and then will report back here with any questions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't think that these changes will affect your alignment. Replacing the hoses is probably a good bet. Depending on your mechanical aptitude, rebuilding the valve, slave and pump aren't that hard. There are a number of good papers by Jim Shea on this subject in corvettefaq.
These intermitent oil leaks are among the more anoying to fix. It could be a function of lod, worn rubber parts and seals, or it could be a flat spot in a rod from the slave, a shaft on the pump.....
