I don't remember any type of fluid level sensor on the master cylinder - I may be wrong but I don't think there's anything...

I suspect there's a switch that's closing the electric circuit to the bulp as soon as you lift the emergency brake. Maybe it's loose ???

The emrgency brake is inside your rear brake rotors, not too easy to replace - especially because you have to drill the rivets out of the rotors to get the rotors off.

If it works, don't mess with it

Two items can cause the light to come on. (1) emerg brake handle switch (2) hydraulic system failure in either the front or rear circuits(triggered by the proportioning valve).

Easy place to start is with the e-brake handle switch which is located under the brake console. It works just like the brake pedal switch
with a plunger and should be pushed in by the handle when the e-brake is off.

Look to see if it is loose or needs adjust.

My first obvious question...have you driven the "new" car and do you have spongy brakes or are they stopping the car correctly??

Well i need to fix the ujoints, THen i can drive it without worries. It is driveable but i was told it needs a ujoint, so im not going to push it and have a chance of breaking more things.

I must admit, from my experiences, if you have general bad brake problems, low fluid, air in line, bad shoes, etc, the light should only come on when the peddle hits the floor, and usually should pump up temporarily...but you're saying the light is on constant?? Without starting the car and pumping the brakes, it could be a bad sensor in the proportional valve, or bad switch on the e-brake, or bad switch on the brake peddle...hard telling from here...I'd try and localize at the switches by unplugging the switches and see if the light goes out...if not, the fluid sensor maybe bad...hard telling...maybe somebody else can better advise...I had air in the front lines, bleed them and the brake light never came on again (they had been going to the floor) and brakes have been good...

My brake light stayed on all the time. I replaced all calipers, shoes, hoses and pads. Jacked with E-brake switch and it still stayed on. As soon as I re-centerd the proportional valve the light went out. Cause/effect ? Luck? Chance? Whatever, it worked.
