Default Damn annual inspection is due..

Well I just got the letter in the mail from the Transport department telling me that my Corvette is now due for it's annual inspection, before I can pay for my registration again.

I know I have to get used to this, but I still get nervous about the Transport Dept. going over my car from top to bottom at the pits checking everything, and I mean everything!

Oh well, it passed last time, and I've hardly driven it since and maintained it well, so shouldn't have too much trouble. The gearbox does leak a little but hopefully the wiping with the rag before I leave home trick should get me through again. ;)

The thing that I find real annoying though is that here in the state of Western Australia, left hand drive vehicles are the only passenger vehicles that are required to have an annual inspection. Now that's just plain unfair!!

They do that complete of an inspection down there?

I had my inspection done a few months back here and the guy drove it around the parking lot, made sure it stopped, popped the hood, looked around and passed it.

Then spent 10 minutes talking to me about how beautiful of a car it was. :D

Chris, I'd love an inspection like that would be a breeze to pass.

No over here it's taken to the local Transport Department inspection center/Police Station and given the works. Everything on the car is tested to make sure it is in working order, lights, heater, windscreen wipers, everything. Then the car is driven over the pit where the chassis and floors are checked for rust/damage, also check to make sure there are no oil/fluid leaks any where, and all the steering and suspension components are checked for excessive wear. After all that the car is then road tested.

I know everything on the car works so I have no troubles there, but I do have a couple of very tiny leaks which I don't won't to get picked up on as we all know that even the smallest leak can sometimes mean an expensive repair.
