From: Bedford Iowa, i didn't know spending this much money could be so fun!!
transmission not wanting to shift
th350 dosn't wnat to shift when changing gears, sometimes keeps going untill i let up the throttle do i need a shift kit rebuild, as i have no clue when i comes to a tranny
Check to see that the vacuum modulater connection didn't come loose. If it's still on ,maybe you have a vacuum leak you can eliminate by disconnectiing all the vacuum lines you can(plug the ports you disconnect)
First you throw a rod and now tranny problems hope it's not contagious.
Sounds like a good time to pull the drive train and do some upgrades.
Good Luck

I can sympathize. Just picked up our "new" '71 today with Turbo 400 transmission. Car runs and drives fine, but when I kicked it down to accelerate onto the interstate, the egine revs like crazy, but the transmission doesn't kick into passing gear (second gear?).
May also look at the governor, even with the modulator disconnected @ ~4800-5200rpm's the trans should shift. I would look at the modulator first though. As far as the shift kit goes this will not "fix" a mechanical problem somewhere else in the trans. If the trans is not shifting at all right now, the shift kit won't help.
proracr: The th400's do not have a mechanical TV cable. They have an electric solenoid that it activated by a switch under the gas pedal. The switches can get dirty or the solenoids can go bad to cause that problem. Look's like another electrical gremlin.

Thanks Scotty! I will check that out. A very exciting day today. We have been without a Vette for over 4 years and finally have one again!
