Whats the safe way to buy parts from a guy out of state....
I want to buy some C3 parts from a guy that is out of the country, (Canada). He wants me to just send a money order for $450 and he will send the parts after he gets the money. I don't know the guy from "Adam". Whats the safe way to proceed? COD?
Thanks

maybe have him insure it and have it shipped through fedex maybe
Not real sure how you would go about doing it so there is a record of it

The money order is a safe way to make sure he gets the money. And prove he got it. It still boil;s down to trust as he may not send the parts.
I purchased a frame from a guy in florida and I asked a fellow forum member to check it out. What part of the country are you buying the parts from maybe I could help you varify he will send you the parts after he gets the cash. You could also arrange a "bank transfer as you then get more info on the person. Easier for a hit man to trace

I usually have them send it COD. You can not open the boxes, but at least you can verify it is there. You can refuse it, if something seems wrong. :seeya
I wouldn't trust those Canadians anyway! They talk so funny. :D

Canadians speak funny? What's that mean, Ehh! You can use an intermediary such as PayPal. But my purchases/sales have always been based on trust. Has worked very well

DavidR,
If you are unsure of the deal DON`T do it. I buy and sell quite a bit, if it`s on ebay at least you can "try" to get an idea of who you are dealing with through "feedback". I would never try to buy anything COD and will NEVER EVER sell anything COD because it`s a misnomer, there is no such thing as "CASH ON DELIVERY" anymore and how do i know the check i get will be good.

PS I know someone who got a "bank check" printed on a home PC.

Red is basically correct. I missed the obvious. :o You can COD on the cost of the shipping but not on the value of the contents.
