Default 1980 l82 ploution devises

I have an 80 which does not have to be state inspected. My egr valve did not hold vacuum so I plugged off its vac line.Is that ok or should I have purchased & installed a new one . Could I just remove the fan belt on my smog pump? would this help or hurt performance. Any Ideas or suggestions would greatly be appreciated. What kind of true duel exaust system could I purchase? What about oxygen sensor if 80 have them/ TY

Technically under federal law, you must keep all smog control devices in place. OK, that's been said.

You can pull your egr and put a blocking plate in its place. Any good speed shop or mail-order vendor should have it. You can pull the smog pump and tubes. You should also pull the little tubes that are inside the exhaust manifolds. The holes in the exhaust manifolds can be plugged with brass plugs found in the plumbing dept or your hardware store.

Mid-America (and perhaps others) sells an "off-road" true dual exhaust system that fits your car. You need to use the setup that fits 80-82 cars -- the pipes for earlier cars will not fit around your transmission crossmember, which was changed in 1980.

There is no oxygen sensor and no computer.
