body lift question
Or you could purchase the $70 lifting straps and do it right. If you can, strap the heavy duty straps near the body mounting bolts (2 per side at each corner of the bird cage). Keep the doors on.

I got all the body mount bolts out tonight, had to cut the #4 bolts off because the nuts were spinning. other than that it was easier than I thought

Reminder: don’t forget to support the front part of the body.
Recently my brother and I bought a 1977 Corvette. Vette was not driven for at least 3 years. A lot of parts is missing, for example servo valve, hydraulic cylinder, air condition compressor... engine is OK. First time we started the engine I became "vetteadicted".
Last month I am browsing the web and gathering all possible information's to start the job. Firs I will lift the body and restore the frame. I am desperately searching for service manuals and plans. I found a tons of books on web, but I have nobody here to ask for advice what is right to buy. Regular mail is to slow (30 days from USA!?)and I would like to renovate my car as soon is possible. Small book by UPS from Las Vegas cost me 131,91USD !!??!! and as you see cost is not justifiable. Also I will need to buy a lot of parts in future. Here in Europe we have metric tools and screws and it is impossible to buy single imperial nut or screw.
1. I need repair service manuals, wiring plan etc in PDF or link where I can download it.
2. Which book you are proposing?
3. Where are you buying parts for your Vette? (servo linkage system, air cond. compressor...)
I hope I found on this forum right people wiling to help vette colleague oversea. Best regards
Iztok S.

Slo77...theres enough info on this site to guide you through a restoration. Check out the sponsors on the left side for vendors with the parts you need. And use the advanced search to search for specific questions you might have. Everything is here...you just need to look and read.
In last days I searched this forum entirely and have tried the best to find any kind of manuals or at least exploded view plans of 77 vette to start the job. I was unable to find any useful technical documentation for 77 vette.
For start I ordered free catalogs from vendors listed on left side, but until now I didn't receive nothing yet (first I ordered 1 month ago!!). BY MY EXPERIENCE I CAN SAY THAT VENDORS DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH EUROPE CLIENTS AT ALL. I am becoming really frustrated because when I purchased vette I expected that I'll be able to get information on easier way than previous owner (before internet), who gave up restoration because of BIG problems purchasing and locating right parts.
I am kindly asking once again for help with concrete information's about manuals or any technical documentation for 77 Vette. Hope somewhere I can download them from web.
Regards Iztok S.
TT been around on this forum for years, and knows one hell of a lot....his car will make you ill with envy though, as does most of the tech types on this side of the pond....
AM I correct in guessing you are from Lithuania?? (American spelling??).....
IF so, PM, me I have a funny story to tell....if not, it's mostly meaningless....

I am from tiny country Slovenia which is positioned between Italy and Austria. The capital city is Ljubljana (German name-Laibach, old roman name Emona) The town is very old and exist even before counting began. Until 1991 we were part of ex Yugoslavia. In 91 we became independent as one of first countries in Europe. We have only 2 millions of citizens. Slovenia is ONLY European country which does not need visa to enter USA. Standard is much higher than most of tourists expect when they come here. My brothers colleague from USA came here for vacations and then stayed here for 2 years!? We have very good food and cheap beer 2USD/0,5L. Maybe that was the reason. A lot of people have high education and majority of population speaks at least 3 languages. 90% of population 5-45 years will be able to speak with you in good English.
Our town is famous by oldest wooden wheel ever excavated. Believe me it is very nice place to leave. We have only 1 hour of drive by highway to coast and 30 minutes to best ski resources in Alps. Speed limit on Highways is 130km/h=81MPH. Max speed until you pay penalty is 91MPH. Highways are all modern and are constructed because of safety reasons for max speeds even up to 130MPH.
By the way where is Lithuania? To be honest I search a map and check for first time where is that place. It is on far north. Almost on same latitude as Sweden. I have never been there or have spoken with somebody from there.
Thanks guys for all information's. Maybe I am a little impatient but I hope you will forgive me because I am "vetteadicted".
Best regards

SLO-Not to be rude but I think you would get a better response from your questions if you started a thread specifically for what you needed. There may be people who have the information on the manuals you requested, however they may not be interested in reading gator's thread about pulling the body off. If they are not then they won't see your question/request.
