Will this Vette sell at 45k?
It is now a bargain after the price has been reduced from 55k  OK, it is a very impressive well-built car that looks and performs great, but I don't think this guy will ever recover the 120k he claims to have invested. I would say he could probably get 30-35k. What do you think?

Re: Will this Vette sell at 45k? (Brett K)
I hate to say this, but I don't think so. I doubt if it makes 30k. However, I could be wrong. The reason I say this is money. After you get past the 15-20k mark the people who can afford an extra car narrows up quite a bit. The guys who have 30k plus to spend are looking for an original car in pristine condition or a correct restoration most of the time. As these cars will continue to escalate in value, where a hotrodded Corvette is just that a hotrodded Corvette.

Looks like a run of the mill 69 with some engine work to me $25-30,000 would be my guess and that would be about it...What an idiot to put that much $$$ in a 69 vette(nothing agaist 69s I want to get another one it it might be a 69)BUT you give me $79,000 and I'll be lookiong for a 67 BB that will give me pleasure to drive and might even make a buck or two when I sell after im dead...that kinda $$ you could get a nice Bloomington car not some wanna be Bloomington car...man get off the crack pipe...BTW we need a crack smoking happy face!!!

Guys,
Not that it matters BUT i know this guy. He does nice work BUT he values his time as if he was a "brain surgeon" thats where the $79K in time and parts invested comes from, Second He knows "everything" about "everything" !!(just ask him) I also know a "doctor" who restores cars in his spare time and has a beautiful numbers matching`68 coupe 427/435 for sale and is only "asking" $35K.The orange car has been for sale for some time now and i bet the price WILL go down before the car has a new owner, besides who with that kind of cash to spend would want a "cut up" car and heim joint a-frame bushings???????

 I'm at a loss for words for once
I just can't believe that someone actually spent $100K to restore a 69? I am totally baffled
Am I the only one that feels that way???

I guess I"m gong to pixx off the NCRS types here, but here goes anyway....
any restored car is going to be down in value ALOT in the coming years as us guys that remember them new either die off or get too old to care anymore....
it's a question of time, and the economy too I might add....
NOW, when these restos become more affordable, in say 10 years, the new owners are going to do what should be done right now...upgrade/hotrod/modify....
my observations are based on the dwindling numbers of the what now are very old cars...like FAT FLATS etc....as a stock machine it's worth only say 10 grand at best....now as a desirable tasty done hotrod...25-30 grand....
thems the facts folks, time will prove me right....
our kids don't care about factory goofs, but a good hotrod base lives forever...

I don't know what he can get for his '69.
Maybe $30-$32K
I know I have alot more in my '69 than it's worth but this guy actually makes me feel good.

Kymmie,
No, you are not alone. That amount of money (plus about $20,000) buys a pretty fair 3-bedroom bungalow in this city. It's all a question priorities I guess. BTW, there is a quota on the icons. Use them sparingly ;).

It would be a nice car, but it has two problems that woud keep me away from it (if money were not an issue)
1. It's not origional
2. It could have been a great driver, but with 12.5:1 compression, you can't use pump gas.

The value of a Corvette is basically in the body, interior, frame etc. Unfortunatley the motor dosen't really matter too much. Way to much
emphasis on motor.
When I had mine appraised I was telling the guy all about how my motor
was rebuilt etc. I think he took about $1000 off the total value of the appraisal.:mad
Probably worth about 20 grand.

I dont agree with mrvette...I have NO idea about the way a C1 or C2 looked or ran when it came off the line..now what I do know is that in order to make the car worth $$$ it has to be as close to original as possible. I am all for hot rodding an engine if that is what you want. Question is how can rare parts be worth less than easily available aftermarket part??? Think about all those guys who tossed(thrown away/traded ect.ect.) the tri-powers in favor of a 4V carb...bet they all wish they had them back now...The value of an original part will always be worth more than a cheesy repro/aftermarket part. So the value of these cars will remain high. You can see tons of vettes C1,2,3,4 to be had in the autotrader for $10,000-20,000 these are mostly NOM or hot-rodded...Now check out the vette trader with a similar car.. Original motor returned to faqctory specs ect. ect. Hello dig a bit deeper in the pocket book.

This car was built by someone with too much money on their hands . I have to disagree with mrvette. I have said this before. The C3 market will be driven by the boomer generation: born 1946-64. They have or will have a lot of disposal income and will want to go back to what they had, or wanted to have, before wife/husband, mortgages and children. This is a huge market. I am a boomer and the people I meet at cruise nights in that age group compliment my car for originality. They like that repro window sticker and for some strange reason, that repro "Keep your GM car all GM" on the air cleaner. I find their interests lie in seeing a car much in the original state. They are not looking for the 1/4 mile but a pretty ride on a Sunday afternoon. But we are a diverse group in this Forum so this is just one opinion.

Just an observation here.I notice that whenever folks ask what a corvette is worth the first thing most people on this forum ask is it original.Yet I see post after post of folks saying they do not care about originalty, it,s their car and they will do what they want with it.And I see post after post with questions about how to make changes.Kind of strange.Seems like we all like the idea of the worth of an original car,yet enjoy the driving of a modified car much more.

Re: Will this Vette sell at 45k? (Brett K)
I like the car. The way the exhaust exits is pretty neat. It's a pretty sweet ride. I think he's asking too much for it for what it is. If someone builds a car like that for that much money, they should plan on keeping it and enjoying it or take a serious financial loss in selling it. These cars almost never yield a positive return investment.
