Will dot 3 brake fluid affect POR-15?? I was contemplating painting my calipers with POR-15 I have left over but I'm wondering if it's affected by brake fluid. Anyone with experience??
Also, anyone know the color the spindle backing plates are suppost to be?? I'm not married to NCRS but I'm just looking for ideas on what color to use.
I think the worst part of painting with the por-15 is doing the recoat 3-5 hours later. It's a great product, as long as you do the prep right, make sure to use marine clean and the metal-ready on the frame before you start, it makes everything go very smooth I really have nothing to complain about with it, it's not as easy as a rattle can, but I'll probably never have to do it again unlike if I just spray painted it

I used silver POR15 as the base when painting my dust sheilds. One calpier leaked after rebuilding it. The POR-15 didn't stand a chance, it bubbled and peeled off where the fliud leaked.

My buddy did the subframe for his Z28 in POR15 and had a leak in the proportioning valve. The brake fluid leaked all over the frame and wrecked the finish. He ended up pulling and stripping the subframe and powder coating it. It was a lot of work but the powder coat ended up looking better after all. He went with DOT5 fluid after that.
DOT3 fluid is better performing fluid with respect to higher boiling point etc. and better for your daily driver, but DOT5 is hands down better with respect to keeping your expensive paint intact on your hobby/show car. It also doesn't absorb moisture like DOT3 and rot your brake lines over the years.
