What a great way to finish up a year and Bring In a Happy New Year. My son and I reunited the body and frame on 12/31/05. I have included some pics. This forum and it's members were instrumental in making this happen, there is a huge amount of knowledge and experience shared here.
Lots more to do; new steeroids clutch linkage, hurst Comp Plus shifter rebuild, fabbing up 3" side pipes to hook-up to hedmens headers and fit under OEM side covers, deciding what to do about wiring harnesses (use exisitng or pay close to $800 for new), gauges, interior, and oh yeah the body work, WOW, there's alot more to do and money, money, money to earn and spend. It really feels great seeing it come together.
I am only the second owner, owned it since '74, been off the road since '78, took wife in it on our first date.
Vabeachvette, nice looking blue vert, hope mine turns out that nice.
383 Stroker, Scat Crank 9000 series, Scat Forged I-Beam Rods, Forged JE SRP Pistons, Comp Cam Solid Roller, Aluminum Full Roller Rockers, AFR195 Aluminum CNC Heads disassembled by engine builder-oil galley groove/oil return holes machined for better oil flow, Edelbrock RPM Airgap intake, MSD 8571 Distributor and 6TN box, Speed Demon 750DP - was there when it was dynoed at the engine builders; 489 HP/495TQ. Hooked up to McLeod 12" clutch, Muncie M21, and 3.70 rear gears. Will be going with the Spal Fans.
Great work! I would like to do that to my '71, but I don't think I could part with it long enough to put that kind of work into it. (I recommend the new wiring harness.)
b71vette - Looks awesome, great work. I'm getting ready to take my (76') body off, do you have plans for your body lift straps? Also, where did you get the mobile bases under the wheels?
Thanks
hey guys, this is marshall, b71vette (larry's) son. thanks for all the compliments, i cant wait to get this car on the road!
gr8wht - not too sure what my dad wants to do with the lift straps, i assume we're gonna keep em in case we decide/need to pull the body off again (hopefully not!) and we got those black wheel dollies from harbour freight i believe, like $40 a pair i think...
Did you send the body out for paint separate from the frame? I'm thinking about painting my 71 and wasn't sure the body shop would be able to get all the gaps lined up without being on the frame.
Also, did you pull the windshield glass out when you pulled the body off or did you leave it in?
whiplash - we actually havent had any body work done to it yet, that's down the road when the money comes, if it does at all lol...and we left the windshield in while pulling the body off as well as puttin it back in. thanks for the complement!
